For Senior Class Parents

Greetings!

A senior class member's year is a busy one!
Taking SATs/ACTs, visiting college campuses, writing that perfect essay, and applying to colleges, applying for scholarships, and figuring out all the higher education finances.

It is also very busy for parents of seniors!
Project Graduation asks senior parents to volunteer and donate during their student's senior year for fundraising activities.

Fundraising meetings start in August and fundraising starts with the October Bingo.

Bingo games (monthly October till May) are the biggest fundraiser and your support to volunteer time to run them, donate food and prizes (gift cards are appreciated especially to grocery stores, Rite Aid, or Irving Gas).

February Calendar sales are another fundraising staple.  Each senior class student takes home ten (10) calendars which parents are requested to sell during the month of January.  Daily drawings start in February.
Prizes include cash, goods, or services -- all this depends on the PG Team Effort.

Potential sales equal $100. per parent sale times the number of students.  This amount nearly equals half the amount of money needed, that is if every parent sells their ten calendars.

There are other fundraising activities also.  These activities depend on opportunities that are offered (sometimes LOCO races) or available, even donated tickets to sport events are sometimes raffled off.

Fundraising from August to May is critical to what the students can experience during their PG Celebration that takes place after the Graduation Ceremony in June.  Typically, the cost of the event is based on $200. per student in the graduating class.

If there is not enough fundraising (not enough planned or opportunity) some former PG committees have asked senior parents to contribute a set amount of money to offset the expense per student (their own child).  This request usually is made early on so funding or expenses can be solid by the start of the new year and planning is easier since venues have to be booked with deposits around January/February.

All confirmed graduating seniors are invited to this event regardless of financial or volunteer contribution by their parents.  Some funding is available to those in financial need when the committee suggests a monetary donation.

Seniors who are informed by the school administration they will not be graduating cannot attend and their invitation is revoked.

It is important that every parent contributes something to PG to help out and make it a success and memorable experience for their child and classmates, the last time they will ever be together as a class before they venture off to real life.

Parents of Juniors are invited to get a little experience by volunteering also.

Your community effort is needed and appreciated very much.

Every little bit helps.
